Who We Are
Medical Interns Abroad-Tanzania (MIA-TZ) is a community-based organization in Arusha dedicated to alleviating human suffering through immersive global health ventures. With a legacy of high-impact, community-led placements, we empower future healthcare leaders by bridging the gap between clinical talent and resource-limited healthcare systems. Through our unique “cross-pollination of skills” model, we provide accredited internships and volunteer opportunities that combine rigorous medical practice with cultural exchange and safari adventure.

From maternity ward deliveries to rural vaccination campaigns, the MIA-Summer Exchange provided diverse clinical exposure. It is a unique opportunity to learn about tropical diseases while working in a multidisciplinary team.

The opportunity to share knowledge with local Tanzanian practitioners while exploring the beautiful tropical environment was incredible.
The MEVEA program gave me the hands-on clinical experience I couldn't find anywhere else. From assisting in the maternity ward to performing physical examinations during ward rounds, I felt like a valued part of the team. Staying at the their safari partner after my rotation was the perfect way to recharge.
The MIA-Summer Exchange is perfect for anyone wanting to see global health in action. I gained so much confidence managing high patient volumes and learning about infectious diseases in resource-limited settings. It’s a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment where you truly make a difference.
