Arusha Lutheran Medical Center
Founded as a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s North Central Diocese, ALMC serves as a premier model for faith-based healthcare. It was established to provide the Arusha community with a center of excellence that demonstrates the high standard of holistic care the church can offer.
The hospital was developed in response to Arusha’s rapid population growth and the need for sustainable medical solutions within Tanzania’s evolving healthcare landscape. Construction began in mid-2005, and the facility officially opened to the public in December 2008.
Mt. Meru Regional Referral Hospital
Located near the Arusha-Moshi road, Mount Meru is a major government-owned facility serving seven District Councils, including Arusha City and Ngorongoro. Today, the hospital serves as a vital healthcare hub, supporting hundreds of local health centers and dispensaries across the region. It maintains essential referral links to national centers of excellence like KCMC and Muhimbili National Hospital, ensuring patients have access to specialized care and advanced medical services.
