About Medical Interns Abroad-Tanzania (MIA-TZ)
Medical Interns Abroad-Tanzania is a dedicated community-based organization registered under the Tanzania government department of social services. Established in 2020 following the global pandemic, our organization was founded with the ultimate goal of alleviating human suffering. We achieve this through medical exchange ventures that promote the “cross-pollination” of skills and knowledge, specifically reaching out to the most vulnerable members of our community, including women and children in remote regions.
25 Years
To alleviate human suffering by providing quality healthcare services to the most vulnerable and underserved communities.
To upscale medical health services through the exchange of knowledge between volunteer doctors and interns, ultimately working toward the reduction of tropical disease mortality rates in Africa
Core Objectives
Our programs are designed to bridge the gap between international medical expertise and local healthcare needs:
- Global Platform: We establish a diverse setup for overseas medical interns and volunteer doctors to experience different health systems firsthand.
- Clinical Immersion: We facilitate hands-on clinical work in a variety of settings, including urban hospitals, semi-urban centers, and remote rural clinics.
- Cultural Integration: Through our unique “voluntourism” model, participants tour local attractions and go on safari adventures, giving medical practice a human face.
- Capacity Building: We promote inter-continental growth by providing local Tanzanian health practitioners with opportunities for overseas training and electives to learn new technologies.
